Kim Kozlowski, a reporter for The Detroit News for the past 25 years, is one of three people who will be inducted later this month into The Eastern Echo Hall of Fame at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2023 to honor outstanding alumni of The Eastern Echo, the student newspaper.

"Kim Kozlowski worked at The Eastern Echo from 1989-91 and studied to be a teacher until she realized she liked writing about education more than she liked teaching," The Eastern Echo writes.

Some of Kozlowski's most notable reporting includes her coverage of the sexual abuse scandals involving the late Dr. Robert Anderson at the University of Michigan and Dr. Larry Nassar at Michigan State University.

In 2021, the Society of Professional Journalists named her Journalist of the Year for her coverage of Dr. Anderson.

Joe Misiewicz and Kristy Montee are the two other inductees this year.

Misiewicz was described as a devoted professional in broadcast journalism for 42 years, according to The Echo.

Montee worked as a journalist in Michigan and Florida and served as the assistant managing editor for the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, according to The Echo. She co-authored a New York Times bestselling mystery novel series with her sister, published under the pseudonym P.J. Parrish, The Echo reports.

In 2024, former Detroit Free Press reporter Rob Musial, who served as editor-in-chief of The Eastern Echo, was inducted into The Echo Hall of Fame.

All three nominees will be inducted at a celebration on March 27 at 7 p.m. at the Freighthouse in Ypsilanti.
